From Constant Bloating to Gut Health: My Journey of Learning and Healing
For years, I lived with a body that felt uncomfortable and unpredictable. No matter what I ate, I seemed to end up bloated — so much so that it became “normal” for me. But deep down I knew something wasn’t right. What I didn’t realize at the time was that my gut wasn’t healthy, and until I addressed it, nothing else in my health was going to change.
Step 1: Finding Relief With Digestive Enzymes
The first thing I discovered was digestive enzymes. At that point, I didn’t know everything about gut health — I just knew I needed relief. Digestive enzymes helped me break down my food better and gave me some breathing room (literally) while I started figuring out what was going on. They weren’t the ultimate fix, but they made eating feel less like a burden. I still take them today when I go back and to eat. I have been able to win over restaurants since I’m not the one cooking the food.
I take two before I go out.
Step 2: Tracking Triggers
Once I had a little relief, I realized I needed to dig deeper. I started paying attention to what I was eating, when I was eating it, and how I felt afterward. This meant slowing down, journaling my meals, and noticing patterns. I began to see that certain foods and habits made my bloating worse.
This stage taught me a key lesson: awareness is the first step toward healing.
Step 3: Asking for Help
But even with enzymes and food tracking, I still didn’t feel like myself. That’s when I decided to reach out for professional help. Having someone guide me and point out what I couldn’t see on my own was a game-changer. I learned that gut health is complex — sometimes you need another perspective, not just willpower.
Step 4: Turning My Struggle Into Study
What started as a personal health battle eventually became a passion. I went back to school to study nutrition, not just so I could heal myself, but so I could help others who felt the way I used to feel. I learned how food, stress, hormones, and lifestyle all connect back to the gut. I finally understood why I had been bloated all the time — and more importantly, how to fix it.
Where I Am Now
Today, my relationship with food and my body is completely different. I don’t feel trapped by bloating anymore. Instead, I feel empowered because I understand my body, I know how to support my gut, and I have tools to keep myself healthy.
If you’re struggling with bloating or digestive issues, I want you to know this: you don’t have to settle for “this is just how my body is.” Healing is possible, and sometimes it starts with small steps — a supplement for relief, a journal for awareness, a coach for guidance — until you finally uncover the deeper answers.
